Fort Burnside, R.I.
Built in 1942 and originally having two 3-inch guns, Battery Whiting of Fort Burnside now sits in
Beavertail State Park at the tip of Jamestown, Rhode Island. The battery was originally located at Fort
Getty at the northern end of the island. It's purpose was to protect the minefield in the east side of the
harbor.
