Clinton Train Tunnel

Off Route 70 in Clinton, MA, is an old train tunnel. It's been described as being "in the middle of the woods", but that couldn't be further from the truth, as it sits up on a hill, and can't be missed from the road. From the road the tunnel begins finished smooth, but inside a way it turns into rough stone, with large icicles in the winter. A portion of the wall has caved in. There are pools of water at the sides, which flow out the back. The rear of the tunnel heads out into a man-made gorge, and passes under an overpass.

Take 495 to Route 62, go towards Clinton. Turn onto Route 70 and you'll see the tunnel on the right after the dam.
